Phil Dodd's excellent EP, Collected Shorts, is now available as a digital download. I had forgotten how much I liked this delicate and sensitively constructed collection of songs and short stories. Originally released as a CD with a booklet. When you download the digital version, you will automatically recieve a PDF. of the booklet. Bargain!

Dowry EP

The Dowry EP by Tiger & Panda is now available to buy. You can buy it here on 10" (including free download code) or as a digital download in any format.

Dowry was written as a performance piece, consisting of two medleys, in 2009 on Dowry Parade in Bristol. It was performed at the scout hut in the same year.

The music and artwork for Dowry are a collection of memories from the time surrounding Olly and Henry's year living together on Dowry Parade. It is deliberately simple and stark in places and the two sides of the record have distinctively different atmospheres. Side One is accompanied by a drum machine and has a pop atmosphere, which darkens as you reach the end of the side, while Side Two has a more natural blending of guitars and is more energetic.

Tiger & Panda EP Launch

Our good friend Steve of excellent Bristol record label Stitch-Stitch, has kindly organized a show for us at Cafe Kino on Saturday the 16th of April.

Tiger & Panda will be celebrating the release of the 10" Dowry EP, which will hopefully be on sale on the night...

Tiger & Panda & Ox will be playing with the excellent Rob St John and Brimstone Moth.

Tisso Lake June Tour Show

Back in June, we put on the Bristol show for Tisso Lake's June tour. They were great, as were Headfall, who played loads of new songs.

So this happened on saturday the 28th and was wicked smooth. Ian and Rob played fantastically and the art show looked wonderful. You can see pictures here and here.

Spanner removed!

The problem with the shopping cart thing has been fixed, it was all down to silly old me deleting things that shouldn't have been deleted. It does mean that there is now a huge gap at the bottom of every post with a paypal link in, but I'm happy to live with that if you are...

I've also found a few copies of Sun's brilliant 'Spanish Tiles EP' and Olly's incredible 'Light Out!' EP so have put those up, although I'm pretty sure that once they're gone they'll be gone for good.

So it's come to my attention that the paypal buttons aren't working properly and just links you to the paypal website. I'm trying to work out what it is that's gone awry and will fix it forthwith.

Also, look at what Henry did to the banner thing! Purdy eh?

Slow and Steady

So, changes are happening, at classic Polite Records pace.

The hosting package on the old site has now expired (I think) so the address www.politerecords.co.uk should now direct to here. Because I had to take everything down from it, I have just finished putting all of the 'Shop' contents from the old site into this blog in a way that I hope works. I have also copied across news of the last few and next shows Henry and Olly have organised.
